I mean, unless there's something I wasn't properly taught in school and by the internet and TV and pretty much everything else, America conquered its independence through an all out war with England, with aid from France, in the bigger context of the 7 years war between the two european countries. Brazil, on the other hand, bought its independence from Portugal using british gold and had the heir of the Portuguese throne placed in the Brazilian throne in order to keep the newly founded country tied to Portugal and to provide a safehouse of sorts for he Portuguese nobility in case shit hit the fan in Portugal, which it did. There's not much to be proud of in this whole mess...
